Even while she was in The House That Dan Built, D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser couldn’t get a shout out or a face-to-face with the owner of Washington’s NFL team.

That would be Dan Snyder, and the home — soon, sort of, to be vacated — was FedEx Field. Bowser, at the beckoning and behest of the club’s owners, was in a luxury box at Sunday’s one-and-done playoff game vs. the Green Bay Packers, The Washington Post, apparently along for the ride, reports.  Burgandy & Gold  President Bruce Allen offered Bowser and team the luxe box seats.

But any chance Bowser had Sunday of persuading Snyder to build the once-and-future new home for his NFL team in D.C. didn’t happen. Snyder apparently wasn’t at the playoff game — better things to do? — and Bowser said he hasn’t returned her calls to discuss stadium stuff, even after she’s reached deals to build arenas for D.C. United and the Washington Wizards-Mystics.

Bowser reportedly bought a burgundy-and-gold ball cap that said only “Washington” on the front. She won’t say the team’s nickname, which many people find offensive.

The mayor wants the team to return to D.C., at a rebuilt RFK Stadium, which it left for Maryland 19 years ago. Snyder recently hired architect Bjarke Ingels Group to design a new stadium for an undisclosed site. Northern Virginia is panting to be that locale.
